Suggestion: Have someone else have the password (or half and half with a spouse) and do the following:
Lock installing apps + remove browser + add apps you need (possible rules: no games, no sports, no entertainment, etc.).
[Occasionally an app will have a built in browser/or need to access a certain website - just go back in to settings (with password) and add that website].
There is time restrictions and more features too.

I believe OpenDNS can be installed on your router.
Of course, that means that if you take a laptop elsewhere and use someone else's wifi, it won't be filtered. Ideally you want both types of filters set up.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Open DNS can be set up for routers but there is a very easy workaround for anyone who knows how to use Google...I think safe eyes also offers something for routers but the charge and you can probably get around that as well.

A review on VCF (Venishmartem cloud filter).
Someone recommended it so i gave it a try...
The concept is great and i loved it for the 1st few days.

They have to root your phone and then they install the filter which blocks apps and filters websites, and can do many more things as you wish.
I had some issues with some apps and they blocked/unblocked them as needed.

The main issue i had was when i tried to use Foxfi/pdanet to tether my phone to my computer on the road and it was blocked.
i called and emailed them and they refused to allow me access to that.
I was forced to cancel my account with them and asked them to remove the filter entirely from my device.
I have no idea what they did, but my phone is now rooted,  very slow, gets very very hot, and battery drains very fast.
I also cant download new android updates.
I emailed them again and they sent me a link to do more things to my phone and do a hard reset...to try and get it back to normal (albeit rooted).

At the end of the day, i would NOT recommend them as i have no idea what they did to my phone and cant seem to get the phone back to normal.
Had they solved the one issue of tethering, i would have kept using it. They said they are creating a new filter which will allow tethering...not holding my breath.

Used to use net nanny as well, but they for some reason cant keep up with the android updates...every time a new one comes out they take like 9 months to close the loopholes and by that time the new update is likely out for Android again.

not sure. That might have been the last link they sent me (which I haven't tried yet). I actually got so annoyed that i got a new phone.
This was more of a review about vcf and to warn others who are thinking of trying their product.

I have qustodio on my phone it cost me $12 (tag installed it) and I'm very happy with it and its definitely worth the $12 instead of having k9
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I don't notice any lag because of it and I can tether the only thing is when I Google something it takes a extra second or two (literally) to bring up the results page

Oneplus one
One of the great things about it is that all the settings are web based so if I need anything changed or unlocked I just call tag and they do it from their end
