For some reason it takes my win 10 laptop around 15 minutes to connect to open optimum.
Is this k9 related?

I use WebChaver without the filter add-on. Any idea for software that can a curfew for internet similar to K9? (Covenant Eyes, WebChaver's software is not compatible with K9).
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Anyone with experience filtering a comcast router?
Is the router only able to be configured thru comcast  website as apposed to the routers GUI?

Optimums router is configured thru Optimum.com, and I do not see the option to add a DNS for filtering.

You could use your own router with Comcast.

I have to use their 2 in 1 modem/router i guess i could somehow hide it and add my own router to add DNS
I had heard that comcast allows somesort of filtering and the router itself, it can be configured either through the GUI or comcasts website.

Please explain.
I have it on windows 10 and it works pretty much the same as it did before I upgraded from 8.

The thing with k9 is that it's no longer properly updated and it has a hard time blocking certain things (i.e. certain google services). As per a conversation I had with a TAG rep.

Please explain.
I've heard from multiple people that K9 sometimes decides to stop working (allow things that are usually blocked, etc).  My suspicion is that it only occurs to computers that had k9 installed on w7 or w81, and then got upgraded to 10.  But if TAG says it works then it works.. they deal with this more then i do

most routers yes. yes, although most clients can configure their own custom dns servers and choose to ignore the one set on router.

The more advanced routers offer firewalls that can block all DNS traffic excluding packets with opendns ip addresses as destination. I can confirm that this works, if a client tries to connect with alternate DNS servers, the connection will be refused

The DNS option is definitely there, check all the options under "advanced" on the left
