A lot of talk about filters and wifi and protecting our children but what's the point of filters and disabling wifi on devices if the kid just gets a hold a mirco sd card from a "friend" and whole world is open to him? am i missing something

second can one disable sd/mirco-sd slot?

Take a look at https://truple.io.  Solves this problem perfectly.

This is an incredible idea. But there are some things that whoever your admin is you wouldnt want them specifically to see. Not something bad, but something private. Some peoples phone contain literally all the information you'll ever need about them and you don't want someone getting screenshots of everything.
I'm not who you think I am.

I agree with you.  To help with this the app has optional features like text redaction and image blurring.  It also whitelists most banking sites.

For anything containing text, it does a great job blocking ALL text in images.
See attached example image showing a WhatsApp chat, Tapatalk, and Google Maps.

I can think of a few other private things that would be harder to redact, such as video calls, but text redaction handles most items.

I actually didn't even know what the nimshol was.

But anyways it won't work in a group setting it has to be one on one.

IDK it's theoretical I never tried it out.

Just curious what age did you have in mind?

I could imagine so. Not sure.

I had in mind someone who is ~16.

God of the world, when will the pain end?

The trick is (if you're not embarrassed) you've got to one up the "friend". You have to get a SD card that's preloaded and give it to your child. (Obviously if you know for sure that they will purposely watch those things then don't.) Then tell them

חיים והחיים לפניך ובחרת בהחיים

Then only if you want you should daven that they make the right choice.

At least that's what I would do.

But this is exactly what I thought of right away

are you serious?  You try to limit the nisayon for adults how much  more so for children

Okay, so how long does it last for? Do you have a way of ensuring that the inappropriate items won't be sitting and waiting when it wears off or a moment of weakness arrives etc?

I've heard such a statement here before from others. That it's up to hashem to give a nisayon and not for us to put it on ourselves.

Go right ahead it's a safe route, most probably halachically/hashkafically the right one too.

Let's just say I don't always agree with things.

It is a great thing to go ahead and think through things, but the responsibility which goes along with that is to really think it through well and try to find all of the pitfalls in an idea and not to just take a whim and run just because it sounds nice at first. It does not seem like you did that here.

Lifetime.
I have no way of ensuring that. It's still worth it in the long run.

You're right. I didn't think it through enough to actually put it in action. I do find this idea appealing although I can't clearly articulate at the moment why.

If it works. Big if.
You're right. I didn't think it through enough to actually put it in action.
Fairly obvious, but spewing out ideas that were not thought through is not included in
It is a great thing to go ahead and think through things
Quite to the contrary.
I do find this idea appealing although I can't clearly articulate at the moment why.
Then you really didn't think through it at all. The appeal of it is very simple in that it teaches self-control. The problem is that teenagers are not likely to be able to exercise such constant self-control as you seem to be expecting even with telling them a magic sentence.

If you put the Google play store on it, it will.
