Lock installing apps + remove browser + add apps you need (possible rules: no games, no sports, no entertainment, etc.).
[Occasionally an app will have a built in browser/or need to access a certain website - just go back in to settings (with password) and add that website].
There is time restrictions and more features too.

I'm desperate for a new filter. I used Gentech a few years but it was super glitchy and slowed my computer. I switched to Jnet but every time Apple updates an OS I lose my internet access, and customer service takes several days to fix it.

I have a Mac, a Windows laptop, an iPhone and an iPad. I want to spend as little as I can while still having appropriate filtering that actually allows me to get work done! Are there any alternatives or do I need to stick with those 2?

Chime in with what?

He feels it's slowing things down, TBH I don't really believe it except if he has a really low specs computer, or if he's talking about internet speed that it is slower (it will be somewhat slower, depending on the current speed.)

At this time, its using 117.4 MB of ram.
made my computer lag, and icons keep refreshing since I installed.
(not talking that I keep having issues with apps from windows store, yes, even calculaotr crashes)
I have 16Gb of Ram, core i7 processor, and dedicated GPU.

I know it's always easy to blame the filter, but it seems quite obvious you have some other issue.

117.4 MB of RAM when you have 16 GB is nothing (one Chrome tab can eat more...), and Calculator crashing doesn't make sense to have any relation to an app that strickly effects internet traffic.

ok it's not calculator, it's all windows apps, including calculator.
I didn't have any issues before installing the filter.

Again, maybe something got messed up while installing it (I'm not working for any of the filters so I wouldn't know. Have you asked them to take a look? They can easily disable and/or uninstall to troubleshoot.) But the Calculator crashing (and same with other unrelated - not internet-connected - Windows apps) can't happen from a service/software intercepting internet traffic which doesn't hog a lot of resources.

I did reach out to them. They replied a while later, "now it should work".
I restarted, still nothing. they told me to update my computer, did that, still nothing.

Again, those apps should not be affected by the filter operation itself (and not by the resources used.) Only possible thing that something went south with the setup (but still very strange to affect the whole computer operation.)

Reply to that email that it is still not good. I wonder - if you can please come back and keep us posted - what they're gonna try/do, and if when the completely remove it the issue disappears.

will report back.
I belive they blocked traffic to Windows store, cuz it might have content that needs to be blocked.
and that affected all related apps. but I'm no technician.
