Lock installing apps + remove browser + add apps you need (possible rules: no games, no sports, no entertainment, etc.).
[Occasionally an app will have a built in browser/or need to access a certain website - just go back in to settings (with password) and add that website].

will report back.
I belive they blocked traffic to Windows store, cuz it might have content that needs to be blocked.
and that affected all related apps. but I'm no technician.
They might block traffic to the Windows store but that doesn't affect apps that are already installed fully (same as it works without internet connection altogether.) Maybe it was in the middle of updating the apps from the store and it got blocked in the middle? Let's see what they say.

Does it actually work on a kindle?
Other filters can easily be overridden.

Finally after months of trying to figure it out I ended up getting Techloq. Impressed. Really customizable, Skin tone filter works really good. Very good response time.  14 Day Money back guarantee.
Mishpacha Magazine had coupon code for them that gives 10 % off- MISH010. Good Until May 1.

I think only positive reviews.
My story, was something different. Still didn't got the time patience to properly fix.

For a few days it was frustrating and there was growing pains but I felt they took care of in a timely manner and were responsive to my needs.

Like what? Computer issues, or filtering?

I too share @myuser 's concern about installing a certificate. The same is true about Netspark on android.

It seems however like that's the only way to filter since almost all Web traffic is now https.

I'm curious to hear how other filters work without being able to read the information.

That is totally normal for any new setup, since things always need to be tweeked for your personal needs.

Is it only with Windows store apps? Or with other apps too?
If the former, is most likely a filtering setting.

All proper filters will intercept all traffic therefore needing a certificate.
You can always have then bypass certain sites if you're uncomfortable having them intercept those.

How does NetNanny compare to Livigent?

I'm desperate for a new filter. I used Gentech a few years but it was super glitchy and slowed my computer. I switched to Jnet but every time Apple updates an OS I lose my internet access, and it's a headache to fix.

I have a Mac, a Windows laptop, an iPhone and an iPad. I want to spend as little as I can while still having appropriate filtering that actually allows me to get work done! Are there any alternatives or do I need to stick with those 2?
Bumping my own post because it took a while to get approved and then got lost in the shuffle.

I read through the last couple pages and the wiki, but i couldnt find any information on the differences between the various options. I would just like to know which filter to get, as the one i have currently is not very good. Which filters are the most customizable. Which can control other apps that can connect to the internet. If theyre are any significant differences. And which slow down the computer the least (although it seems that evreyones experience varies, perhaps make a poll).
Im sure im not the only one who would like this information, so please share your experiences. And if someone has a lot of information it would be a big help to update the wiki with it. TIA
