I'm running kaspersky for my anti virus and I seem to be having trouble running K9 together with that. Any solutions?

Googling tells me it's a known conflict (and I seem to remember something like that happening to me too), time to ditch Kaspersky? :P

Trend Micro isn't a good idea either. Go with AVG, Avast, Avira, or MSE (I recommend the latter).

alrighty then. thanks

ETA: hmmm my local computer expert apparently isn't too keen on MSE

You don't like MSE?
Its decent... But I deff wouldn't put it as being a secure protection

I like Norton a lot

Micro Trend is also good

Mcaffee and AVG are a total waste

(I have spent way to much time removing viruses from computers that had Mcaffe or AVG)

I installed K9 on a computer that had Mcaffee ... Also had an issue. My problem was that I wasnt able to access any webpage.

The reason was is that Mcaffee takes over windows firewall, and K9 wasnt on the list of application to go thru the firewall.

I assume that Kaspersky does the same. You have to go into Kaspersky and in the firewall option allow K9. (browse for the application, it should be in the folder - C:\Program Files\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection)

I'm not sure if that's it. Kaspersky detects it as a Trojan. I'll try later though

It's more complicated than that. Kaspersky + K9 (could) = slow internet connection.

I just read online that this is an issue. You will need to use a different AV

Nothing negative (AFAIK), and a few positive reviews/recommendations for MSE on DDF. Perhaps it's not as good as a paid solution, but if you're looking for a free one, MSE is the way to go.

The company that I work for has a Dept that watches what everyone looks at, this was his recommendation as it tracks it at the modem
