Suggestion: Have someone else have the password (or half and half with a spouse) and do the following:
Lock installing apps + remove browser + add apps you need (possible rules: no games, no sports, no entertainment, etc.).
[Occasionally an app will have a built in browser/or need to access a certain website - just go back in to settings (with password) and add that website].
There is time restrictions and more features too.

Thanks! which one do you recommend?
Just based on the specs on the page,

The tag one has been updated more recently, and looks like it's more customizable and bug free.

The other one hasn't been updated since 2017 and says clearly it's under development.

They both have similar size user bases though.

You may have to reinstall then disable the administrator privileges for that app

Better yet, I found the app in the settings app list, yet play doesn't see it as being installed. I think at this point the only way to fix it is a full reset

Did you try reinstalling the app?
Unless you don't mind, a system reset shouldn't be necessary

How is NetFree for filtering computers?
It seems like it is free.
Is there any reason to pay for the others?

Works great. Do not feel any effect on speed. I find that it is much much cleaner than other filters.

Customer service is great and is open 24 hrs.

In short: I personally highly recommend it for those who genuinely want a cleaner experience.
But: Keep in mind that if something isn't kosher then they will not open it (unless they can clean it)

Thank you.
1. So why are people paying around $100 a year for the others?
2. Can you make a special request to open something they consider not Kosher?
3. What about a typical website (i.e. Fox News) that may have pictures not for a Frum person - will it not open at all or do they block/blur the pictures?
4. Is there skin-tone covering?

Thank you.
1. So why are people paying around $100 a year for the others?
Several possibilities:
1. They don't know about NetFree (NetFree does not advertise)
2. They do need something that NetFree does not open such as Facebook for example
2. Can you make a special request to open something they consider not Kosher?
I'm not sure.
I've heard that they do have a department that looks into such requests but I really don't have info about if it actually exists or how it works.
3. What about a typical website (i.e. Fox News) that may have pictures not for a Frum person - will it not open at all or do they block/blur the pictures?
The way they work is they review each website and if it is kosher (or can be koshered) then they open it for all the users. Additionally then have a staff of non-Jews in who check each picture in real time and if it is kosher then they open it for all the users. Otherwise they blur it.

Fox news specifically is blocked (as are most non-Jewish news sites) because they contain extremely problematic content such as celebrity news etc.
Fox business is open
4. Is there skin-tone covering?
No - images are blurred if then aren't kosher.

To date they've checked 886,991,350 pictures (according to their home page).
From my experience the review time for images is appx 15 seconds
Websites depend on the priority level which can be set. High priority is usually as fast as 5 minutes and you can see the estimated response times in your account.

In general I have the impression that it is an outstanding product but also that it won't work for some people because of specific needs.

It seems like it is free.

It's not free (it was in the beginning) but it is cheaper than other options. It costs:
30 NIS in US and UK (Appx 8 USD, 7 GBP)
20 NIS in France
15 NIS in Israel

Monthly or annually?
