Also I just mistakenly discovered that there’s an extremely easy workaround with netfree making it utterly useless…
I have Techloq for PC and I think its great. Lots of customization possible but also some defaults if you dont want to go through all the options. Usually accurate, and very fast response times.

Maybe it's just me, but I find those filters horribly expensive, especially with a family and many devices.
I'll end up with probably $900/year or so.
Yes, I know, for the good of the family you don't karg.
I get this.
My point is that there is (probably) no other software or app for private use that cost remotely as much.
I don't care about all the bla bla that they have to employ people, as all software do.
There must be a way to get those prices down to be accessible to all, especially since it involves ruchaniyus.

For PC, try Plucky. There's a steep learning curve, but it is super customizable and very effective. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty straightforward.

Plucky has a sliding scale. Free, if you don't want to pay and you are willing to take surveys.
He's a religious Christian who just wants everybody to be able to benefit from hat he's doing, while also earning a living at the same time.
The downside is that the Android app is not currently as strong as the PC version.

You can tell that he is sincere when he posts a list of all of his competitors.

How many devices do you have? I understand that Techloq can give you a discount on multiple devices, and is cheaper than some other filters. $118/device/year for the annual plan.

For a kosher ethrog, you don't need to spend much.

With a few kids in high grades, each with his or her laptop.
Parents have smartphones.
Wife also a tablet.
It ads up quickly.

I wasn't necessarily talking about myself, but in general.

Having a PC or laptop, could be for study and work and I don't see why the cost has to be so much out of proportion to any other residential software.

Not saying it's cheap, and the size of the market is obviously also a factor (same price for development, but an extremely narrow target market), but those filters aren't just "software", they are a "service" provider (they process all your internet traffic on their system) and should be compared to those. So if something, you should compare it to an unlimited VPN service pricing.

I paid for a good VPN about $75 for 3 years and several devices.

If you can't afford the filter then you also can't afford the devices...

Right, so since Excel saves you 3000 hours of work each month, paying $1500 a month should have been a bargain.

I'm not disputing the need for a filter, I just think many companies are taking us for a ride, as they know that by following the rabbis advice, any price will be paid.
Some happens with many things by us yidalach.
