People know well how to say K9 could be easily removed but the funny part is no one knows how to do it with all the Google resources available

I have and so has DH I am sure, but from what I have heard they may have plugged some holes already.
Though I would still recommend k9 without missing a beat.

Doesn't that only prove the point of the detractors of this new filter under criticism?!
indeed I'm personally very happy with k9. I don't really care if it's a scam one way or another.
To fight against the filtering movement though is just wrong and childish.

TheJNet, Kosher Net are out of business not because they were successful or they had good products, they had nothing to offer in comparison to free K9, not even service, as long as your arguments against K9 will continue being silly like it could easily be removed it will keep on rising while others will keep on failing, I don't know anyone who recently successfully disabled the product and the ones who are technical enough to disable it your product is not worth either.

Jnet was a failure because it ran on DSL and didn't have good support!  The concept wasn't a failure.
The progress they made with this filter for (cloud based, can make changes while not connected to pc, can replicate setting for other pcs) is really nice and innovative. Out of all the filters I would think you would appreciate a jewish filter designed with you in mind without making restriction like no facebook etc.

Either way I still don't see how this equals scam - even according to you its just not as good as a free filter.

On a side note - many ppl don't agree with what youtube "safe search" considers safe and they may want better control - this filter does that. It's not your place to decide that its not worth the money they charge.
Also as far as I know and I spoke to a few B&H techs they are very satisfied with this filter and are switched to it from Bluecoat (k9)

Exactly, I sense here more of a fight against filters (at least from that blogger who seems to simply want to enlighten us to his pearls of wisdom).

+1 I didn't try the new one yet.
Even k9 will not filter youtube - Not everyone wants their children to watch everything they say is safe

I always felt that the main task of a filter should be to protect your children regardless of what you may feel is right or wrong...

Does B&H still use Livigent for their Email? They definitely used to. Either way heard high praise of livigent from BH techs.

So what exactly does the new filter allow on YouTube? only educational? How about music, news, sports etc.

I'm not sure, I just confirmed with a few techs though - they are happy with livigent - so I'm not sure what @myuser is referring to.

Not sure I missed the meeting when they were explaining the VCF filter but I believe you can filter according to your guidelines

For all you smart educated people knowing everything did you ever use a computer with Livigent for one day? Before you claim how good this product is use it yourself and then will talk, just as you will see 95% of people liking K9 you will see 95% of people hating Livigent, the only difference the 5% liking Livigent are the people with interest.

I am involved with B&H Photo first of all the higher ups are still not using this product they have exceptions even the smaller technical team had exceptions until recently, the product keeps on crashing they have the benefit to switch it over in a instant moment so big deal, most workers could not care less if things are slow or not, but for the knowledge team it's a big hassle and a disaster, this could not be called a success.

I marvel while there is so much hate in B&H photo on this product how people could continue posting how happy they are with it, B&H photo is only pushing it for the fact that the owner is suicidal for this subject.

And for all you pushing an agenda about YouTube K9 is beta testing YouTube URL filtering.

I am asking for all the the smart people posting
1. Install the latest K9 have people searching Google how to remove it and succeed.
2. Use for one day Livigent with the images and content filtering on.
When done post your experience and don't puppy words from others.

I have installed k9 on thousands of computers and they are all happy, I continue to install it as well. When someone wants a stronger protecion and is ready to pay for it he can have it just like he would've bought Jnet when it was slower and more expensive.

The issue here initially was whether this company charging money for a filter is considered a scam or not, the answer is no!

If you still disagree with me on that, please explain

I'm pretty sure we all manage staying on topic without making this personal, hard to comprehend why you can't

My point is there are free products and they are good and should be encouraged, organizations like TAG and GYI should continue volunteering and helping those who need them but don't start a business and charging money and claiming you found the solution of the century, let others do so.
