Still didn't get an answer - scam or no scam?

When they started developing the product K9 was extremely lacking, they may be doing better now but that doesn't change the fact they developed a product to help the community with the flaws the other filters have. I don't believe they are making much if any money on it, and the proof is in the fact they didn't charge for the blackberry app. They run a website with volunteers full time, created a filter which costs them money and they do have a service for ppl that can't afford it where they don't charge them.

This really doesn't feel like an organization trying to get fat off others money

For those accusing me of an ax to grind, lets try to stick to the facts. If you are interested in what he is referring to you can read about my article here. I was never "against" filters. I am against making money off frum Jews that dont know much about technology. http://blog.campsdeichemed.com/2012/04/open-letter-to-ichud-hakehillos.html

Arguing Livigent in B&H Photo we have multiple users using Livigent from NetTzach Israel by Belz, Meshimer by Satmar Zalman Leib, ask all those people and as I suggested before try it yourself don't puppy after others then we will talk, K9 is still proven to satisfy almost all the uses and I am asking VCF not to kill it let others make a business out of this.

You Make me laugh when you talk about the blackberry solution, do you know that blackberry has parental control doing the exact same but much better and more powerful than they? What was the point of creating a blackberry solution to block the browser, maybe they don't know how to manage money and developing nonsense.

Things start to make sense developing a blackberry blocking browser which is available from blackberry parental control, and now this new product which is not needed and not necessary.

You are saying we are making a new Jewish product this is the problem we are creating a new cult and a mandatory product which we see already happening with NetTzach Israel by Belz, Meshimer by Satmar Zalman Leib, therefore I need to say no, and we do not need TAG and GYI to contribute to this nonsense.

And for those that still have any doubts just read this news post from yesterday. "Resolutions following Boro park Internet Asifa 5773/ 2013"
http://thepartialview.blogspot.com/2013/05/resolutions-following-boro-park.html
I quote " b. The Filter must be guarded under the auspices of a valid organization which is under the supervision of Rabbonim and one that can not be removed on its own."

Once again you keep avoiding the point, the question here was whether or not its a scam! I'm not promoting any agenda here and it would be nice if you didn't either. The blackberry app was very useful to many ppl and it doesn't matter if you can do it in a dif way or not. They were trying to create a blackberry filtered browser but I believe they didn't have the resources for it, I guess they felt it wasn't worth putting that much money into RIM...
We aren't discussimng belz or stmar so you can stop bringing it up..

Well you start off all about protecting ppl from a scam, and then you start shamelessly promoting every article you wrote regarding internet filtering, and you still didn't explain why its a scam

For some silly reason I actually clicked the link, I glanced at the first paragraph and saw the words "The Internet by design was created not to be filtered.."
Your blinded by your agenda, you rant against filters because its one of the things the ppl you hate advocate for. No, your not "against filters" but you will make any irrational claim or argument against the people that you oppose and the hadrachah that they give.

Truth is I don't care who's agenda you think this filter movement is, anyone with children at home that doesn't see the necessity of spending 2 min to install k9 so his children don't click on the wrong link accidentally - should rethink his values

How can you say I'm against filters when I recommend K9. You keep repeating this lie that I am against filters. I'm not. I'm against charging innocent people for filters when there are free ones that are just as good. I'm against fooling the public who doesnt know better.
Why cant we stick to the facts and just give one reason how this filter that cost money is better for a frum home to use?

I'm super impartial in this argument, but seemingly DH has stated that this new filter is harder to bypass and easier to customize so people that want more have what to spend more on and people that want free have a free option.

Feel free to prove otherwise, but why do you keep repeating this same question?  A better response would include a factual proof to the contrary.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Because there is no evidence that it is any harder to bypass. His only reason for being harder to bypass was that you can find more results on google on how to bypass K9. The only reason for that is because K9 is popular and this new one isnt, but there are just as many ways to bypass this cloud filter as K9 and he knows that. If this is debatable I can start listing them here.

On his second point, that this new filter it is more customization is also completely false. What customization is he referring to that are not available from K9 or other free downloads off the Internet.

Dan, this organization prides itself as trying to help the public make proper decisions as to what filters to use. If this was just any other business trying to sell a product I really couldn't care less what they do. Innocent religious Jews come to these stands having no understanding of filters and rely on these people to give them the best information out there.

I hope you allow this forum to stay with the facts and not turn into personal attacks against me or anyone else.

Whether or not livigent is a fast filter or slows you down, this definitely has more power than k9. At this time K9 cannot filter youtube or facebook. Its also harder to remove as its installed by third party and you don't have the option to send password to your email address.

How can you say K9 doesnt filter youtube and facebook, read what it says here "Experimental Advanced YouTube Filtering" from CNET http://download.cnet.com/K9-Web-Protection/3000-27064_4-10487710.html
Of course K9 also blocks facebook. Are you denying this?

You realize that this is not the first time he has attacked the organizations. He has an agenda/chip on his shoulder, its not the "scam"- thats not his problem, whatever is bothering him, you are wasting time arguing over k9 vs the new filter. I seriously doubt that he has a real issue with the new filter at all.
