cloud filtering is just the name of the filter... Its really based very much on livigent filter, and as most BH employees can tell you - this is a very strict filter. Some ppl want this! Why is that so hard to understand!!
Actually if you read the forum and go back a few pages you will see a B&H employee saying the exact opposite!
Stating that the livigent filter is stricter is playing with words unless you explain how and why is stricter.
Are you referring to the Image altering?

They gave out free cds that come with a 30day trial of the vcf filter, I would imagine that makes up alarge amount of that number. So first of all we'll see if they keep it after a month, second - many ppl will install them for home computers and if they want that over k9 its their decision!!

Earlier you said you did sell it to those who wanted. Here is the article http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=168035
"People left the Filterthon with knowledge about the many different filtering systems available for their devices, many installing the protection that best suits their needs, on the spot. At least 1,500 people downloaded the new VCF filter. What a Kiddush Hashem!"

Of course it is their decision. I never said you guys were forcing anyone to buy it. But you did say and so does the website that it is the best option. In other words the best option is a filter that one pays for. This sound reasonable but it doesnt hold up with the facts. People are very gullible and when you tell them a certain filter is the best one and they are so concerned about it they will pay the extra money for it. As someone that is there to help the tzibor can you one last time explain why this filter is in any possibly way better, besides for your own word?

@dave you are seriously cluttering this place with your spewage.
You keep on repeating the same nonsense, that VCF is a scam though you never even tried it just because they charge money (which DH said about a million pages ago mainly goes to livigent).
You claim that DH sold it and contradicted himself when all he said is that about half the day "he" spent putting k9, NOWHERE did he say that he sold a SINGLE copy!
PLEASE keep your agenda to your blog and let us have normal conversations here

Just my 2 cents, k9 has loop holes upon deeper probing, A good example which was mentioned is fb. If the filters sold block fb, than imho that's worth paying. No need to reply if you agree or disagree.

Just one more thing for the public to know. Chrome browser has many free extensions with all these perks you guys were talking about. including Webfilter Pro, which is a cloud based web filtering application http://goo.gl/lLv6A. Did I mention they were all free.

Ok lets try this one last time because I feel like I keep repeating myself.

I'm unaffiliated with VCF, I'm only having this discussion because I feel you incorrectly called it a scam - and people are indeed easily influenced. This is a filter that was filter that was developed with the typical computer user that isn't very tech savvy in mind. Anyone that's tech savvy doesn't need these events, they can install K9 on their own and figure out how to deal with it - we don't need a genius to figure that out. The typical guy at these events doesn't know how to install k9.
There are some very nice benefits to this filter which you probably would agree with if it didn't cost money and wasn't a "Jewish Scam".
Content filtering by text, images etc is much stricter than k9, I'll grant you that it may be slower and crash sometimes but most ppl opting for this filter are ok with that.
Having the ability to make changes even when not connected, or use a common profile even when switching computers etc is very helpful for many ppl as is the support. Yes I'm sure they could charge ppl for k9 support as well, but they actually don't. They install k9 and take calls and support even though they don't charge for it.
This is an organization helping ppl with volunteers and have bills as well, but don't charge anything from the community. The least you can do is acknowledge that and not call them a scam.
I don't see you offering anyone on your blogs help with installing filters....

Thanks for responding and it's nice that you dedicate so much of your time to help the Klal but you haven't yet explained why this filter is being offered and what benefit it has over a free filter. According to YWN site there were 1500 of this product sold at the event. As someone that volunteered his time at the event can you please tell the public what benefits there are to this filter? What reasons did you give to explain why this is the recommended filter? As to the rest of your statements I'll respond accordingly below...
Is this a joke?? Are you seriously quoting YWN and using their numbers to side with you on your argument??
Email them and ask them where they got their numbers from. Enough said.

Regarding the argument, we all know (except for DH data?) that you have a blog and a heavy agenda. Enjoy!

Actually I put together another blog which does help people in explaining to them filters and all other things related to having the internet in a frum home. Its called
internet in the jewish home - How To Navigate The Internet As An Orthodox Jew http://www.internetinjewishhome.com/
I promise there are no products being sold on the site, except links to other filter companies that I first checked reviews for.

You do realize venishmartem.com does the same thing?
The truth is if they would've consulted me I would have told them to market their filter separately to avoid this type whole conversation. Despite having representatives from other filter companies at the filterthon and they weren't pushing their product, I see it gave you the wrong idea and they should've avoided that. Having said that I don't think its right to call them a ascam just because you feel their product is inferior in your opinion, and you only addressed the last line in my reply - again...

I would recommend extensions like adblock, even with k9 they help to avoid objectionable asvertisement images on many legit sites. (Not to mention that they make TLS bearable ;))
