I am not getting into if it's a scam or misguidance or its not there business as a organization to represent their own product when advertising a free solution.

The argument that Venishmartem VCF filter using Livigent is a better product as it's more difficult to remove and it has better functionality specifically you keep on mentioning Images,YouTube and Facebook, let me respond and I hope you will reply with decent arguments if you have any and to the point.

First when you're saying we are doing Internet filtering mainly to protect our kids, let me ask you do you think that any filter out their today is able to protect Jewish kids from the gossips and the dirt of the Internet? Are you making the argument that Livigent filter is considered safe for kids? There is no Internet filtering today I know could protect kids and if you claim Livigent filter is able to I would say it's a true groundbreaking product but first I would like your kids to be the ones exploring this product and then we will talk how safe it is. The fact by all Asifas it was very clear no kids should access any computers on any circumstances even with a filter.

For most adults including most of you, you have no way removing K9 software regardless the education from the Internet, and for someone educated why not just have your hard drive divided into two operating systems one filtered and one not? It's idiotic to make an argument that Livigent is difficult to remove as it's not true, in fact I am advising people who had them installed because they were misguided to do a system restore and it will be gone, in fact technicians of TAG were told to test this product for their organization and they came back to stay away as it has nothing to offer and it's easy to remove in three steps, as I told you already last Friday install it yourself then give your input.

Before I make my main argument about them filtering YouTube and Facebook let me ask you how can they filter acceptable good blogs from bad blogs I am not talking blogs promoting pornography as that's very simple to identify with words I am talking blugs talking about religion how could you divide good topics from bad? the same question goes to Facebook how do you know people I follow are good or bad?, talking about YouTube they cannot filter the actual video they could only filter the content on that YouTube page so if the video has woman dancing in !!! how will they exactly filter that? Going back to protecting your kids is this how you plan to protect your kids taking chances on those videos or Facebook friends? Or taking chances on images? It's very nice when a company writes that they could do all those nice things but in a open world we are entitled to ask questions.

So you will tell me B&H photo, NetTzach, Meshimer are using this product successfully, let me first make this clear, non of those providers are using this product with YouTube, Facebook, as mentioned already before B&H photo does have exceptions on certain departments and technicians otherwise how are they updating their own blogs which they post all sorts of videos and images some of them are not so appropriate, I still didn't find any person using the Internet regularly using Livigent to be happy, they all claim the same it's too restrictive full of nonsense keeps on crashing crazy slow and blocking false items, I will ask again did you try this product yourself?, did you see how the Facebook filtering works? Did you see how the YouTube filtering works?

Security, how are they filtering content on SSL sites without being the man in the middle, so now they are exposing all you data by being the man in the middle and gathering all your passwords accounts and information by having your passwords they could even see the money in your bank account, are people aware of this? Is this even legal? Did anyone even ask them those questions or because they are called Jewish filtering they could do what ever they want, then we don't understand why people lose the trust to those organizations.

Let me clarify it's not only Jewish people who are trying to protect kids and themselves, Arabs, Christians, and other religions are dealing with the same problems they have more money and more knowledge than the people of Livigent JNet, most of them don't have a college degree, the demand for image filtering is not something new the biggest demand on all filtering products is about image filtering the reason why it's still not available is due to available technology to support them, it's just not there yet and I don't think Livigent is the answer to this.

They claim $6 million was invested in this project it's like me saying I won the lottery today in fact prove it.

Venishmartem, Guard Your Eyes, TAG are very good organizations giving guidance, having offices and doing gatherings where people could freely come and filter their products or get advice for other products, let them stay this way and if Livigent so good let them promote it but I don't see the reasoning for them becoming a provider or agent for Livigent.

About your arguments of K9 email sign up, or the passwords, Venishmartem, Guard Your Eyes, TAG they all offer free assistance for this and even if you need to add more sites they will it for free, for you technicians claiming people are bothering you with making changes and cannot charge money don't do it, let them go to those organizations for assistance they do it for free and you try making money somewhere else.

He's saying the livigent filter is weaker, less reliable, and not as kosher as K9 especially because kids shouldn't be on the internet anyway, and its impossible to filter content

DH Data Recovery, thanks for clarifying that in simple words and thanks for offering your assistance to the community installing K9 and giving guidance as you mentioned before.

Honestly I haven't worked much with the latest release of k9 as this isn't my business, but when they were working on this filter - the k9 filter was a joke. It took about 10 seconds to completely bypass it. The new version is a definite improvement. I'm still not sure about which filter is better but I can tell you this if the filter indeed doesn't work and crashes I'm 1000% sure that ppl will drop it for K9 or something else and the VCF filter will flop miserably. Time will tell if it works or not, I didn't test it so I can't be the judge.

I do believe as I've said before that venishmartem didn't do a smart move by releasing their own filter, it changes the dynamics from help organization to player..
They should have released it under a dif name - not affiliated with the main filtering part of the organization

I'm sorry if this was discussed earlier but someone just mentioned to me that with windows 8 k9 doesn't really work cause you can get apps which are not protected by K9. Is this correct?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Is there any way to block the app store? If yes, use it with k9.

I believe that information is outdated. Not saying that you don't  have to be careful which apps are installed.

New K9 Beta for Desktop
March 5, 2013 - We have released a new beta version of K9 for both Windows and OS X operating systems today. This release adds full support for Windows 8, including Windows 8 "Metro" apps.

The beta version also includes additional configuration options, improved filtering, compatibility with more Antivirus and Firewall vendors, and fixes a few bugs

Another new feature that may be of particular interest to YouTube users is a new experimental Advanced YouTube Filtering option, which allows for filtering on a video-by-video basis rather than the previous site-wide YouTube filter. For more details on this feature, read this article

Has anyone ever experienced with opendns that they have occasional lapses in their filtering.  Most of the time if I click on a Facebook link it gets blocked and then every once in a while it works.  Yesterday in general everything seemed to making it through and those same sites are blocked this morning.
Weird.

Depends What you choose for your settings. If you have those type of social media categories checked it will block it I thought every time but maybe just sometimes I don't know.

I also have the free version but on your dashboard you can check and uncheck the categories you want.
I still don't understand why it stopped working.
