Best deaktop thread
« on: March 27, 2014, 06:23:38 PM »
Hay I bought recently a new HP ENVY desktop really strong piece, the only thing is I am getting from a lot of people negative feedback about this computer in particular and HP IN genral.
The computers never got shipped yet so I placed them on hold, but now I will like to know what do you think is a good company to follow? There are so meany master threads that speak about amazing deals for laptops and desktops but no one seems to narrow down a reliable company.
If you can post your opinion here and a reason, if you can, or an expiriance that you did not like, or liked please do!

If you are interested to know what I got and what I am looking for is somthing similar to this...
ENVY 700-230qe desktops that run a gen. 4 quad core i7 processor, 16 gb. Ram 2 gb EMD radion 47240 grafics card (I hope I got that right) 2 tb. Hhd, 460 power supply and many other features.
But again I am not looking for deals I am looking for an opinion about which company is reliable. Because almost all companys put the same stuff inside anyways.

"There are so meany master threads that speak about amazing deals for laptops and desktops but no one seems to narrow down a reliable company."

That's because they generally aren't consistent. For example, you can get a very well built Dell if you are willing to pay for it, but there is also the low-end option for those who don't mind cutting corners and often have a lower build quality as a result. Both computers come from the same company, but there could be a huge quality difference between them. There are a few company that refuse to cater to the low end market, such as Apple, but that's part of their business strategy- only make high end elite products (and ignore the budget conscious sude and your customers will automatically associate you with quality.

Always judge by the product, not the brand.

Generally speaking, it is personal preference.  Have you had good experience with one company before?  Go with them.

The build quality from one manufacturer to another, is 'generally' about the same.  As mentioned above, within each manufacturter there are different levels of quality.

The biggest difference from one company to the next is usually not the quality of the product, but rather the quality of support.

Specifically the Lenovo Think line such as the ThinkCentre and ThinkStation.
I got the ThinkCentre and it's a very well made computer with a great 3 year warranty, but you will need to spend a little extra. (I got got a decent deal by stacking some promotions and upgrading the ram myself)

The ThinkCentre is the desktop line. The ThinkPad is the laptop line.
