Brita water filteration
« on: August 08, 2012, 11:17:29 PM »
I recently installed a Brita water filtration system to my sink faucet, the water tastes unbelievable. Does anyone know if Pur is just as good?

Black particles are seeping their way into the actual pitcher in my Brita. After researching Brita's site and random forums, people believe it's either small carbon particles and while larger ones are normally found in the top chamber of the Brita, smaller ones can seep through, but are completely safe to drink. Others think its charcoal which comes out of the filter and, again, claim they're safe to drink. Brita acknowledges the unsightliness of the particles and recommends re-dunking the filter in cold water for 15 minutes, just as was done before the filter was used for the first time. Will try the re-dunking idea now; the filter is less than 2 weeks old, though. Any other ideas? It's kinda gross.

I had the same problem and had to stop using the filter. Nothing worked to rid my water of the black particles.
I bought a sink filter and am really happy with it.

I think its normal the first use, but its supposed to stop. Return protection?

Water is not supposed to taste unbelievable. There must be something else in it. Vitamin water leaves such a bitter taste.

Held it under water for 15 min and now we've been good since for about 2 days. Hopefully that lasts.

Would a sink filter get out the occasional spurt of brown water that comes from the pipes?
