Anyone stayed here in the end?  Is it "worth" booking at $196 a night or is there a better option in the dead sea area?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yup. I stayed here for one night.. I won't pay $196 for it. I would use 10,000 IHG points and go to Holiday Inn Ashkelon over paying $196 a night.
