You don't think Socialism has anything to do with paying higher prices hotels? I disagree.
You can of course disagree, but I'm interested in hearing why it's the case.
Unlike some dairy products for example, the goverment doesn't set any price ceilings to protect the consumer, nor are there any price floors to protect the hotel operator.
You can make the case that there aren't enough hotels, and due to supply/demand, that causes higher rates. But that's more of a function of Israeli bureaucracy, and is a secondary impact.
I also read the news here, and if the government could snap it's finger and build thousands of new hotel rooms tomorrow, they would, b/c they understand that the high prices are an impediment to tourism.
