Would you lend your car?
« on: March 30, 2014, 12:19:04 PM »
Someone just asked us to borrow our second car.  My wife is very uncomfortable but still feels guilty saying no.  Would you lend yours?  How do you feel about borrowing someone else's?

I never let anyone borrow mine, unless it's for a few minutes and even then not so often, exception being my parents who I have given it to them for weeks at a time when I was away. I only have 1 car.

People have a really hard time understanding - however I only have 1 relatively expensive car and I own it

I lent my car to my neighbor it came back with dents, I has no proof it was him.
Before you lend walk around the car with them and take pictures if possible. Or don't lend it

I would only lend it to someone I trust. If Its someone that I need to do a walk around on my car before lending it, it's not gonna happen.

So glad I don't live in NY

ETA just saw that you live in Florida, regardless I'm sure this comes up most often in NY.

Usually the people you can trust are not the ones who need to borrow it

I don't like lending out my car at all. I do lend to siblings, but that's about it.
The only exception is when I travel, I lend my car to a friend who, in turn, takes my wife and me to the airport and picks us up when we return. I'm sure many others here do the same.

Also, never borrow someone's car. Nothing good can come out of it!

Wont affect you in newer cars...set one of the presets and you can adjust everything back with the push of a button.
