Seems like it would, but that would more than double the amount of time it takes to pass through the scanner already .  And the scanner already takes MUCH more time than walking through the X-ray -- not only does the scanner process itself take 10 times longer, but you also have to empty pockets more thoroughly (i.e. no wallet or anything in pocket).

So it would basically wreak havoc on the throughput of all those security lines...

If it's proven to be safe, I think most people would welcome it as it sounds like it would greatly speed up airport security.

Besides for when you bump into someone doing coke on your way to the airport. Then your detained for questioning because the scanner found traces of cocaine on your body. Where will they draw the line? It's a huge invasion of privacy IMO.

Actually got into big trouble as my items went through a different lane than the one I went through. But I told them that it was confusing since they had just opened a new lane :)
