So far I've been lucky and there's always been the option for the metal detectors.

But I'll go for the grope before allowing myself to get radiation poisoning.
The radiation levels are extremely low with these scanners, unlike a conventional x-ray, the radiation doesn't penetrate, it bounces off. 4 minutes of flying around nyc (or any big city) sends a lot more radiation through you. Lastly, i'd rather walk through a machine than be groped!

Tsa=touch some bass

New TSA slogans. "Can't see london can't see France, until we see your underpants" or the classic "When in doubt, we make you whip it out" "We handle more packages than UPS"

The new airport  scanners will help airline officials identify which passengers require a Kosher meal - Jay Leno

TSA experiences
« Reply #31 on: December 16, 2010, 05:31:39 PM »
Just wondering everyone's take on the TSA x-ray screeners.  I took two trips this past month and was pulled out of the metal detector line to go through the x-ray screen and both times I opted out.  The first time, the young lady seemed embarrassed to have to do the pat down and did it very quickly and not as thorough as I thought it was going to be.  Not so bad, I thought.  The next time, however, the TSA agent did a very thorough search, waaaaay overboard.  I cannot stand that I'll need to go through this most likely every time that I fly.  I will opt out every time.  Despite claims that its perfectly safe, the US government has a poor track record with telling the US public that something is safe when it turns out not to be.  I also believe that the screeners are ineffective and will not deter potential terrorist from finding another way of bringing weapons on board.
How do you feel?  Are you for them or against them?  Have you gone through them or did you opt out?  Experiences?

As a non-usa guy, can I refuse to be scanned, and request the spa treatment?

Please only answer if you have something backing you, usa's homeland security/customs and other animals can send a foreigner back home or even ban them for a few years without having to give to manny explanations.
