Smart for Dan to delegate to others so that he can research the good/expert items for us, instead.
Also, there's a wide pool of potential and time zones this way. It's like a version of "Waze", where we are all components of an efficient method/results.

And, FWIW, I think there's a difference between disappointment and whining. Telling a person who has a 500-5000 posts, or less than a certain number of HTs that they're whining when in fact they're simply disappointed they won't get to meet you--many for the first time--certainly doesn't incentivize further HTs or posts, IMHO.

ETA: Many DDFers would want to simply come for the dinner, not necessarily the free dinner.

That is true, but obviously there is a limit to how many people can come.

Well I understand in a way what Dan is saying. If he said that the first 5 people with elite status can go the people with the HT will complain so there is no winning.

I think originally it was by EQP by Dan, but then people added themselves.
