PLEASE HELP: CANCELLED FLIGHT WHILE IN THE AIR!

Hi,

I booked a ticket on Iberia with two stop overs. The second (out of three) flight - from Barcellona - is now cancelled (a British Airways flight) and I just got an email notifying me of that. The third flight is still scheduled per regular from London to Newark. This second flight is probably going to make the third flight impossible to catch.

What would one do in this situation? I've been on hold with BA for almost an hour and am getting NO WHERE!

What's the best thing to do to (a) get on a flight to Newark without additional payments and (b) get the most for my money, ask for refund, free tickets, miles, whatever.

First, why was it cancelled? Second, you should nit have to pay more to get on another flight. It is there requirement to get you to your final destination if it was all on the same ticket.

 don't know why it's cancelled. I think the pilots went on strike - as that's the case with lufthansa. (My chavrousa's flight has been postponed to Sunday because of that..)

Then its their obligation to get you to your final destination via any carrier. You just need to be persistent. Also, lookup the EU laws regarding delays and cancelled flights.

I spoke to BA, they said they'll notify him when he lands in Barcelona. Who gets compensation? The person who made the purchase or the passenger?
