Saphirre vs Saphirre Preferred

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of both? I got the non preferred to save on the annual fee but i'm wondering if i've made a huge mistake. i don't plan on spending oversees anytime soon. should i get a preferred anyway? close the non preferred? any help is appreciated.
