selling aeroplan miles vs using them to israel
« on: November 14, 2011, 08:26:42 PM »
I have had very little luck finding 4 aeroplan seats on flights to Israel in the summer, even booking 11 months in advance (from Toronto) Even when one finds a ticket, Air Canada's taxes are over $600/ticket and one can only make it worthwhile with partner airlines that have lower taxes$129-$250/ticket but times are often very inconvenient with layovers. Plus aeroplan expires after 7 years. I have 300,000 miles+ should I sell it and what is the best price I can expect to get? and where?

Thanks,

Berny

These miles were just devalued (by adding fuel surcharges on a bunch of partners, effective soon, see link for details), if you're going to sell them consider doing so ASAP.

Perhaps try flying on Continental, US Airways or Swiss.
All (as of yet) have no fuel surcharges.

I had aeroplan miles in my account recently for two years and they expired last week for some reason?

Does anyone have any experience with Aeroplan account closed due to mileage sold on account.

I sold miles on my account and broker just finished taking miles out. Should I open new account (if possible) or is it okay to keep existing?

Thanks

You're fine.
