I'm not sure of you are being serious or not. That's a real sign correct?

To clarify, you agree with the sign or with the ad? Your pet peeve is pro or anti the Ani Maamin Foundation?

It's interesting because supposedly Rav Matisyahu gave a haskama to AMF. http://animaamin.org/news/about/haskomos/

To clarify, I have always been extremely uncomfortable with the ani maamin foundation. You can say that they are a pet peeve of mine, in as much that I have long wondered why no one is standing up to him...
Today I was pleasantly surprised to see the sign so I posted it here, I have no info on the details behind the sign of the supposed haskama of R matisyahu. The organization could've easily been misrepresented to him at one time.

This excerpt from r Mattisyohu's "haskama" explains it.

They have a whole list of Kaskamos with signatures.

Rav Shmuel Kaminetzky, Rav Shlomo Miller, Rav Matisyahu Salomon, Rav Avraham Chaim Levine, Rav Moshe Mordchai Lowy and Rav Dovid Nojowitz

Maybe the same way Rav Shlomo Miller 'tricked' him into giving a haskama, someone else 'tricked' him into signing this letter.

In matters of emuna no haskoma in the world can change the fundamentals. Theses are deep ingrained feelings and beliefs.
His new mahalach is not the way yiddishe kinder were taught emuna ever, and they won't start on my watch!  ;)

The transmission of emuna is not through chakira and Q&A sessions.  {and I dont mean the ma nishtana!}

No they are not.
There is a way to transmit emuna to children, it's the way we were taught. And the good news is: It aint broke!

I hate to break it to you but there is now greater awareness than ever that many children are growing up with unadressed emunah issues.

Lets say I grant you that there are emuna issues today. (As if this would be a new phenomena). . It doesn't justify changing the definition and essence of emuna. Loi zu haderech

There are many changes that have been made to the chinuch system over the years as our current generation evolved.
What worked in the Shtetl 100 years ago won't necessarily work today and in practice chinuch today is very different that it was 100 years ago.

I'm not talking about the general mahalach in chinuch. This is a specific area of emuna.
a:  The area of chinuch in emuna may need much improvement and effort, but emuna is not a simple Q&A session and whatever issue there are cannot be rectified through asking a few questions.
b. Overwhelmingly, today's kids are not primarily going off due to complex philosophical issues.

The issue is a fundamentally different understanding of emuna. Sapirman has turned it into a short list of fun facts. Not a deeply ingrained universal truth.

We can go on all night. The status quo of talk of emunah being shunned and legitimate questioners told to keep quiet was definitely an issue.
We're not talking about kids going off because off unanswered deep philosophical questions - more just the basic belief that permeated Jewish homes. I have nothing to do with the AMF but just now taking a look at their site - they aren't targeting kids to stop them from going off. They are addressing kids who may be frum their whole lives and go through the motions but not really believing in what they are doing.

And yes if a kid doesn't believe in what they are doing there is a much smaller chance that they will be interested in being frum other than not wanting to be ostracized. Once they get over that it's all over.

There are 2 ends of the spectrum. 1) Not talking about emunah at all 2)Talking about it a lot and bringing up discussion
There is a middle ground between the 2 which is where I think most people would feel most comfortable. The way it looks to me AMF is swinging toward #2 to distance from #1 and the letter is trying to steer it back to the middle ground.
