Sorry guys, just stating facts. The fact that pretty much anyone who could even dream that there is a problem is from Lakewood, should speak volumes. There is a reason why it's currently the worst city in the world to raise children
So we went from an intelligent discussion about the methods of transmitting emuna to children, to random Lakewood bashing.
C'mon, Stay on topic!

It's the truth. Highest OTD rate/worst chinuch. Care to suggest a city that is worse?
how about this: That's pure BS.

Could be they just need to "hit bottom." Maybe they'd be ready to learn some chasidus?

And don't point to Crown Heights to try to disprove me. They need to learn chasidus over there too.

So currently the best chinuch plan is let them hit bottom?

Is that why Lakewood was so against opening a center for OTD kids?

wtvr why pick Lakewood? It happens to be a very large growing town.
Monsey or flatbush today have nowhere near as many litvishe children growing up there.

Yes I know. I hear that from every person I meet in Lakewood. From all spectrums of yiddishkeit. The one thing they have in common is everyone says "Lakewood is so big, so diverse"

@chaikel, You should be ashamed of the hate that you spew!

I haven't seen such intense hatred in a long time.

What are you so bitter about?

Where are you getting your misinformation from?

And for the record, Lakewood has multiple support organizations for troubled youth.

sounds like you haven't been here for a while. I suggest you at least come visit before you dismiss Lakewood as an awful place. Basically you don't know anything about the place!

I'm sorry to say but I right Now can read you out on the spot four places that are way worse then Lakewood.
I don't think its the right thing to bash any city in the world is not the city or people or chinuch there are so many factors out there.
From personal experience anyone who starts talking the way you are has no clue what he is saying.
Now I'm not coming to insult you just asking why do that? Where is your point learn the facts see the true situation .

Ya you're right - better to just ignore/cast them away.
After all, if they're smoking up and hooking up we don't care about them anyway right?

I don't think I am qualified to know if making a club for OTD kids is good or bad. But one thing I do know, since the attitude changed in the frum community towards OTD kids, and the Love Mehalech became popular - the OTD problem has only gotten worse.
Is it because of the organized hangouts and the fact that they can do OTD and still have a family life? I don't know. But it definitely would make sense.

Now go ahead and kill me for not being open minded. Just please answer me this one thing - Has it gotten any better since the attitude changed or not?

I for one am undecided if we should go back to the "you're on your own" mehalech.

I would say that on an individual level it has gotten better while on a community level it is a continuing problem. (And yes that make sense.)

Yes you are pretty closed minded about this it seems. Or just not exposed to what is going on out there.

maybe if they'd know in the first place that they're going to lose they're loving family, and warm community, they'd never give OTD a thought in the first place?

I may be wrong - but is it such a crazy thought?
