The ultimate list of closed PIT kosher eateries...

These kosher restaurants, bakeries, and ice cream stores in and around Squirrel Hill have all closed in the time since I went to high school there:
1. Leibel's
2. King David
3. Yacov's
4. Simple Treat
5. Platters
6. Golden China
7. Meating Place
8. Sari's
9. Susheli
10. Cafe M
11. Pinati's
12. Rolladin
13. Mordy's Cafe at the JCC
14. Sweet Tammy's on Murray
15. Sweet Tammy's at the JCC
16. Sweet Tammy's in Larimer
17. Aaron and Ari's.
18. Milky Way Oakland/Campus.
19. Grilliance (now open for take out every Tuesday. Email order 1 day in advance to: grilliance1@gmail.com)
20. Phil and Bills Ice Cream
21. Cafe 18 Dairy.

Driving from NY area to Pittsburgh:
2 routes: PA Turnpike ($20 in tolls) or I-78 to I-76 (no tolls), similar times, I-78 might be a little longer
Things to do on the way:
- Crayola Factory
- Cabelas store (Hamburg) - has lots of taxidermy and an aquarium
- Hershey Park
- Dutch Wonderland
- Cherry Cress Farms - corn maze, lots of activities
- Paulus Farm Market - petting zoo
- 7 Springs - alpine slide
- Flight 93 Memorial (Somerset)

Ok here's one Crayola Factory. Forgot about that. 1:45ish from NY so that's a good first stop.
Was going to mention that.
On the closer to pit side, about 1.5 hours, you have somerset with 7 springs and hidden valley, with alpine sliding or the like.

There also should be some amish attractions somewhere along the way

Flight 93 Memorial, near Somerset PA. About 1 1/2 hours east of Pittsburgh

Are you taking the 78 or turnpike?

Thanks for these ideas! I'm going to add a small wiki.

Open to considering both. It seems like 78 leads to more attractions. Looks like 78 is 15 minutes faster and Turnpike is $20 cheaper in tolls.

If you take 78, go to roadside America. Cabela's in Hamburg is cool. Probably the biggest taxidermy display and aquarium of any Cabela's I've been to

Some toll website told me $3 but maybe that's NJ turnpike or parkway tolls on the way to 78. (And it said 80 is $23 in tolls)

Roadside America looks cool, but google says permanently closed. That Cabela's looks cool thanks for that tip!

We ended up only going to Hershey, not all the way to Pittsburgh. Wanted to share a good stop 1.5 hours outside of NJ barely out of the way - Lost River Caverns. A cool tour through a cave. Was a good way to stretch your legs for 45 minutes.
