i spoke to amex travel today, they said when booking a flight with 2 carriers (outbound with Delta and inbound with Jetblue) on 1 booking/itinerary, it goes by the first flight, meaning if outgoing is delta the whole thing is considered delta, and if delta is your selected airline you will get the 50% for the whole charge.
