A negative COVID test is needed within three days of entering, if you are vacinated you can do a rapid test. The hotel offers complimentary COVID testing to return to US. They are open 24 and you just walk in for a test, minimal wait time.

Any ideas best way to handle room occupancy at Baha Mar? 4 kids (including infant), hoping to get upgraded to a suite but wondering if better to book two rooms just in case, or if no upgrade to book an additional room on the spot for the other kids with points…

Is entrance to the waterpark complimentary when staying at the Hyatt? It mentions it as part of the resort fee but it's not explicit

I would get 2 rooms, seems like they are very full these days. This is the king size room ocean view with balcony. We had a connecting to double queen room as well.

Thinking of Going with my family of 5 (3 teenage kids) the week after school (Jun 19th).

Can anyone speak to the difference between the Atlantis and Hyatt Baha Mar? Which one is better? Do both offer kitchenettes?

Yep, I stayed in the West tower. Personally I like the West tower rooms better, but it's really about your preference, east is more urban style and west is more island style.
Check out both rooms online...
I am attaching a photo of how the rooms on the West wing look

Now with the kosher restaurant and the water park the Hyatt is a no brainer

That's almost exactly what I'm hoping for, did you book two standard award nights, one king one queen?
How did you heat up your food?

Only real reason I want the suite is the kitchenette, but spoke with them tonight and they said there's a standard suite which never seems to be available, so maybe they'd let me upgrade for a fee, but doubt it would be economical.

I booked a king and 2 queens. 2 standard award nights for both rooms. I was also hoping for some suite upgrade at least for one room but brought all warming / cooking stuff in case. I brought Betty crocker pizza maker, sandwich maker, dash waffle maker and electric burner. I also rented small refrigerator for each room. They charge $50 per stay. They comped one room as a globalist. They will also store a box of frozen food in their commercial freezer.

Another question - We're thinking of staying at Harborside - in part because the rooms come with a kitchen. Anyone stay there? Is it a bit isolated from the rest of atlantis?

I also noticed that they don't include the same resort fees, and/or wifi. Do you have the same level of access to all amenities?

The Reef has a full kitchen, why not stay there? Harborside was very far off from everything else.

Can anyone confirm how this "Travel with Confidence" plan works? They will give you a free room for up to 15 days or a private flight back to USA if you test positive for COVID while you're there?

I believe that the private flight is only to the Miami area, not any destination in the USA. And from what I've heard, it's not truly private as it can be shared with other families who have a Covid positive person among them.

The only availability for the dates I want is double at the Reef.

Almost seems too good to be true.

Via FT: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt-world-hyatt/1138858-grand-hyatt-baha-mar-review-master-thread-49.html

My daughter tested positive for COVID the night before we were to return to US. Part of the program, you test the night before you return home. She was the only one to test positive of the 4 of us.

They quarantined her in her room, tested her each day, doctor called each day to check in on her and she was given $150 a day for room service, not allowed to leave the room.

You have the option to stay until you test negative or get a medical evac flight to Florida, we picked the med evac flight. It took two days to get CDC clearance for the med evac flight, was a private jet shared with two other groups of 2, both groups had at least one person positive for COVID. We were scheduled to check out on Monday, she tested positive Sunday night. Med Evac flight was Wednesday morning. My daughter tested negative in Florida Wednesday afternoon, so we stayed in Florida until we could fly back on Friday after 5 days had passed from initial positive test.

I sent my two other kids home and I stayed with my 18 year old daughter. Because we had two rooms (connecting) I was allowed to stay in my original room while my daughter was in the other connecting room. They put me in quarantine as well since I had close contact with my daughter, the room was comp and I was given $150.00 credit a day as well. I was not allowed to leave my room. Since we were supposed to check out in the morning, our keys expired and were not reissued since we were not to leave the room. We didn't leave the rooms until time to depart on our med evac flight.

Very pleased with how the hotel took care of us after my daughter tested positive. Hotel manager was our primary contact once she tested positive. No issues with food or keeping rooms. Was nice to have the doctor call every day checking in on my daughter, even though she had no symptoms. Had to provide additional documentation for the med evac flight, but was easy to do. The Baha Mar program is much better than the general Bahamas insurance program, which we didn't apply for.
