Anyone here use the VIP Lounge or Fastrack upon arrival or departure at NAS? Is it necessary at all?

Hi all,
Does the Bahamas have a requirement that your passport not expire within 6 months of entry date?

No. We luckily had no issues with one expiring in less than 3 months from the departure date.

Does anyone know if the minyanim are consistent? Specifically on shabbos?

Trying to book 3 nights on points at Grand Hyatt but system requires either 4 nights or 5 nights (it keeps changing).

Any way around this? If need be I'll book the 5 nights and just leave early but quite wasteful.

There is a fairly active WhatsApp group regarding Minyanim at the resort you can join via https://www.jewishbahamas.com/minyan.

My sense is Shabbos is pretty reliable. The weekdays depend, some days you have 25+ people at the minyan and other days you only have 9. Others can jump in but my sense is they do get a minyan at least 80%+ of the time. They also have a sefer torah for shacharit (that takes place at the restaraunt)

Anyone here figured out a way to go downstairs on shabbos with a a baby? Is there an internal only stairs?
How about without a baby? Are the stairs alarmed or I can just open the doors when I want?

We used the stairs only. (you might need to be in one side over the other.) They have some doors taped over the locks. We had to push security to show us but they eventually did and it worked out well. If you don't mind shleping the baby up steps then there's no difference with these steps over any other.

Grand Hyatt Baha Mar vs. Grand Hyatt Playa? I want to book one before it's devalued. Never been to either, which one is nicer, better food etc.

That's a tough call.

GH Baha Mar has an incredible water park, fantastic dining in Cinko and Knosh, heated lovely pools, a casino if you're into that, and beautiful ocean water. Add to the fact that, from NYC-area, it's as quick or quicker to get to than MIA, and it's very compelling. However, the airport taxes on the return are bananas, the food options while excellent are limited, and, well, the casino doesn't have live poker games.

GH Playa, on the other hand, has The Grill which is very good (but not near Cinko), is in the city near a half dozen other kosher places which are delicious also, and has two Chabads with minyanim and shabbas meals. The airport taxes are 40% less than NAS, too. However, the ocean water isn't as beautiful, and the pools aren't heated.

Personally, my fav family vacation ever was GH Baha Mar, but had a very, very good time at GH Playa as well. (Didn't hurt that I was upgraded in both places, including the presidential in Playa).

Can't go wrong.

Seems like the GH Baha mar is the way to go if visiting? Doesn’t look like there’s much hock in regards to other nearby hotels. Any recent dp if-added as a 2nd guest is an issue, or to book with GOH is recommended?

Which building has nicer rooms in Baha Mar? or are they all the same.  Is there a reason to choose on side over the other?

Thanks

If you're in the bahamas please join the whatsapp group. So you'll be able to join the minyanim and for kosher food options.
Had 10-11 ppl for maariv last night and 11 ppl for Shacris this morning.

Anyone know how easy it is to get a fridge in the room at Baha Mar?
