Good idea! I like the way you think. I complained. Lets see what they offer. I am hoping for Platinum status and bonus points.

Any other ideas for compensation for this?

Going to Nassau in January
Any recommendations on the best hotel/value?
So annoying that there are no SPG hotels there

Doesn't seem like this is a popular destination but i'll post some info here just in case this will ever be useful to someone.

- they use American dollars as their currency which is super convenient
- no need to rent a car if you're going with a group of people- Taxi's are not too expensive (especially if splitting with a few others) and public transportation is cheap as well ($1.75 from hotel to downtown)
- I see why people have issues with the Melia hotel (formerly Sheraton) it really does look run down and there is no wifi in the rooms (only lobby, which is free). the nice thing about this hotel is the beach in the backyard and the starbucks located within :)
- the atlantis waterpark is cool and you can get day passes even if you're not staying there.
- there is a guy with a boat that will take a group (we were 5 ppl but i think the boat can fit 8 ppl) to some really cool private islands/snorkeling/fishing for exotic fish/and dolphin watching for 4 hours at a rate of $320. Was definitely a cool experience and i recommend.
- it's nothing like Hawaii but easier to get to especially for east coast people. You don't need more than 3 days there IMHO

http://www.atlantis.com/casino/acpromotion.aspx

I did this promotion not to long ago. All I needed to do was have a players from a different casino. In Miami its simple to get. gulf stream casino has free bronze cards you can get and will work with this promotion.

The catch is that you have to play at least 6 hours during your stay in Atlantis. If your a gambler 6 hours is really nothing. You do have to pay a bit of taxes on the room  (per person) so for the four nights it I think it was like 10 bucks a night  or something, still dirt cheap. You get full access to everything in Atlantis in particular the water park. It is a great Water park as well as plenty of pools etc etc. All the rooms in the resort have a balcony which was great, as well as a fridge for any kosher food. It is hard to bring kosher food, your not really allowed to bring any meat etc but i think chicken with a usda sticker you can. It just depends if you  get stopped by customs or not. We did not :). Also it was a 30 dollar taxi to and from the resort. Defiantly can spend 4 days there without blinking. great place to go for a short cheap easy vacation. And to top it all off it cost just 4,500 avious points each way  to fly there from Miami.

the 4 free nights are for the coral towers that is old and stinks. The best for the kosher traveler is the "Reef" that's very nice.

If it is available on BA, it should be available on AA. May be easier to search there for you.

I'm going from 11/30-12/4. Staying in the Reef.

1) any minyan possibilities?
2) Anyone know anything about food?
      a) bringing food: maybe pomegranate meals which are ready made and flash frozen? do any of the monsey super-supermarkets do the same thing as pomegranate?
      b) in the bahamas: Is there a kosher place there? is there a delivery service for fruits & veggies? dry foods?
      c) any other food topics that I missed.
