My dashcam paid for itself a couple of months ago after I was stopped by a state trooper claiming to that I didn't stop at a stop sign and i told him that i did stop and  i have the recording to prove it. He asked me to see it, so we reviewed it together and he left me alone.
wow.

Same here, but prefer to hard wire it into the fuse box with a fuse splitter and that way I'm avoiding all those messy wires and usb plug into my ports at all time.

I believe in Russia it's required by the insurance, the reason you see so many Russian clips on YT

Don't believe any company in the US gives better rates with a dash cam
Israel is a half step ahead.
They don't require mobileEye for everyone but if you have it you'll save on insurance and all rentals and taxis have it.
MobileEye prevents car crashes instead of videoing them.
I'm not who you think I am.

In the market for a dash cam. Sounds like most of the ones in the market are decent, but only the most expensive ones will reliably capture license plates.

What do I actually need from a dash cam? Anyone here have any recommendations?

Thanks for the recommendation; just installed this bad boy. Am thinking of hardwiring it – anyone here that did that?

Hardwiring it, is the same as hard wiring any dash cam either you do it with your OBD port or you hardwire into your fuse box with a splitter fuse.
Main reason why anyone would want to hard wire it is because you don't want to wire in your charging port 99% of the time.

There's a special kit for this one which you can see in the questions and answers on this product don't know if they came out with it yet.

There’s a card inside the box with instructions to contact them for a free one. I’d imagine it’s for the OBD cable, but some people think it’s bad for the car.

Noob question: Can having a rear camera on a dashcam backfire?
Lemoshol: Say that someone gets into an accident, they submit the footage to the insurance to prove they were in the right. One minute before the accident they were texting by a light, and it was captured by the rear cam. Can the insurance/court use this to prove that the person is an irresponsible driver, and make him/her lose the case, or at least raise their insurance premiums?

Before you give in the video you should cut the video to the part of the accident only

Why is it bad? What's the difference where it's plugged in?
The battery is being recharged each time you turn the engine on.
