Delta Skymiles or Virgin Elevate Points?

I have flights booked for Delta and Virgin but neither of the points accounts associated with them. Which one is better in the long run (Most of my future flights will originate in the U.S.)? Is it better to sign up to earn Delta points or Virgin points?

Chucksterace, I don't see anywhere that Air France is a partner with Virgin.
Sky121, are you saying the advantage of Delta Skymiles are one-way tickets on Delta? I don't really see that as such a great advantage...
