Canceling El AL Non Refundable

Hi,

We have 4 non-refundable El Al tickets from JFK to TLV for the end of August.    Unfortunately,  my husband lost his job  and we just can't make the trip at this time.  The tickets were booked in March,  so we're way out of the 24 hr grace period,  and I'd prefer not to pay a penalty for changing the tickets date,  I'd rather pay a penalty for completely canceling the tickets.  Any suggestions,  tricks,  loopholes of how to get out of these tickets? Any suggestions of what to say to an El Al agent? Many Thanks.
