Topic Wiki

This is the thread for all random/general questions about Southwest. The official airline code for Southwest is WN as SW was taken by Air Namibia, but many people on the forums refer to Southwest as SW since no one talks about Air Namibia ever.

For questions about any of the SW CC's, see here.
For questions about the SW Companion Pass, see here.
For questions about auto-checkin to SW flights, see here. (Follow the wiki to learn how to set it up.)

To get family boarding one of the kids must be under 5.

flying from Denver to LGA on erev yom tov. arriving at 410PM. should I add the early bird check-in for that flight to get out of the plane asap or it really doesn't make a diff? also do I need to add it for my wife (CP) or can I save her a seat?

Not sure about whether its worth it or not to get pre-boarding, but if you do end up getting it, you would have to get it for your CP as well if you want to board the plane together. You can always try the "I'm saving this seat" route and hope that it works (I don't see why it shouldn't).

I ended up booking another flight for the way back. Is there any way to cancel the return flight from a round trip and get my points back?

+1 Unless you purchase a fare or have your child age verified see  https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/family/baby-on-board-pol.html (Doesn't say about bags but the assumption is that you need a boarding pass to do that)

When they check the bags they link them to a ticket so you wont be able to.

Does anyone know if southwest refunds airfare completely within 24 hrs  (ie back to credit card) if flight is booked less than 7 days in advance?

Yeah, I asked the steward if it was still ongoing, he said, "no, but if it were what would you want?" And he brought me a beer

It's worth taking a moment to fill out their feedback form to let them know that he improved your experience.  I have a friend who's a SW FA and he said that they make a huge difference and most people only fill it out for complaints, not the good things they do.
