This is the thread for all random/general questions about Southwest. The official airline code for Southwest is WN as SW was taken by Air Namibia, but many people on the forums refer to Southwest as SW since no one talks about Air Namibia ever.

For questions about any of the SW CC's, see here.
For questions about the SW Companion Pass, see here.
For questions about auto-checkin to SW flights, see here. (Follow the wiki to learn how to set it up.)

Anyone know details on how to change a flight without having to pay the fare difference? I am told this feature is back active again but it is not showing up for me? I booked a few months ago round trip tickets from DTW to BWI and need to change the dates but it is wanting to charge the difference in the fare.  I was under the impression that they turned this back on. Let me know.  Thanks!

What are the dates of your flight(s)? My understanding is that the current waiver only applies from Sept – Nov.

I think that it's route specific.

Would be great to compile a list of the routes which currently qualify for this. I have not been able to find anything between the NY and Miami area airports in either direction.

Very confusing. Found a DD post but it's marked as expired so maybe WN pulled the offer? https://www.dansdeals.com/airfare-deals/domestic-flights/wow-southwest-generous-systemwide-free-change-policy-month-ive-ever-seen/

Yea, the broad changes are dead. Rumor has it that it still works on certain routes for certain dates.

When SW changes or cancels a flight and allows rebooking on a different flight without any difference in fare, how far back/forward can the new flight be? Does anyone have personal experience with this?

Thanks. Now to find a way to guestimate which flights are likely to be delayed or cancelled.

If one person pays for early bird check-in does everyone on the itinerary get checked in?
ETA: Any SW CC's give early bird check-in as a perk?

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

If Southwest changes a flight and permits the flyer to switch to a new flight within 14 days of the original flight, do the airports need to remain the same, or will they allow nearby airports (as the used to do)? I had the times on one of my flights changes, but the automatic online system is not allowing me to switch airports. Will I be permitted to switch if I speak to a human?

Can I book SW flights myself using my Amex card then call Amex to apply the points and receive the 35% back?

If that is your selected airline, they should be able to make a "one time exception". Just make sure that the charge posts as directly from the airline and also make sure that they credit you the 35% back right away. Otherwise they will tell you to wait 6-10 weeks until it posts and it never will.

SW LUV vouchers officially can’t be used for taxes.
Anyone tried the following: book a ticket with the base fare totaling the full voucher value, pay taxes with a CC, then cancel, get the taxes refunded to CC and use the flight credit for the full price of the flight you want?

Trying to book a seat for an infant via Amex travel. They are telling me it has to be in lap seat. Is this correct for an infant?
Can I just say the infant is 2+? This is an international flight.

From the Southwest website:
Traveling with an infant on an international flight:
One child over 14 days old and under two (2) years of age, not occupying a seat, may be carried free of charge when traveling with an adult (12 years of age or older).
If you plan to travel with an infant as a lap child, you will be required to pay the taxes and fees that apply to the international portion of the infant’s itinerary.
The taxes and fees must be paid prior to travel at the Southwest Airlines Ticket Counter or by calling 1-800-I-FLY-SWA (1-800-435-9792).
