Topic Wiki

This is the thread for all random/general questions about Southwest. The official airline code for Southwest is WN as SW was taken by Air Namibia, but many people on the forums refer to Southwest as SW since no one talks about Air Namibia ever.

For questions about any of the SW CC's, see here.
For questions about the SW Companion Pass, see here.
For questions about auto-checkin to SW flights, see here. (Follow the wiki to learn how to set it up.)

I've used 2 vouchers w/o ever receiving such a message...
It's not a message sent to you, it's in the fine print on the order confirmation page.

Anyone ever get an offer from an energy program called Energy Plus? They have some sort of promotion with southwest where you can earn up to 12.5k RR points by switching to there service. All they are is the energy supplier to your local utility company.   ???

Depends on what you book.

If you book a Wanna Get Away fare with points, it is fully refundable.

Yes obviously looking at the cheapest fare. It's fully refundable until 24 hours before the flight?

The hottest domestic route is NYC to MIA.
Southwest is currently to only major US airline that does not fly that route.
The only US airline other than WN that doesn't service MIA/FLL from LGA is United (they have EWR to MIA/FLL/PBI). How long do you think it will take WN to open up a LGA or EWR to FLL route? Do you think they will downgrade service from ISP?

Alaska, Allegiant, Hawaiian and Sun Country Airlines do not fly NYC to MIA/FLL. Virgin is only seasonal from JFK not LGA. And Southwest serves FLL year round from Islip and has no competition there.

"Major Airline". Allegiant & Sun Country aren't in that category.  As far as I am concerned AS isn't either. You can't be considered a major airline when you service us focused on 8 cities or less or if you service a city every 3rd Wednesday of a month that has 31 days and is a leap year. Additionally,  the airlines you mentioned don't service LGA already.

WN has no competition at ISP and they have their niche with the Long Islanders. That is not to say they wouldn't be interested in getting involved in the NYC action as well. It's a very profitable route.

What error message are you getting?

I booked my daughter (3yo) on a separate itinerary in case I get my CP before our trip... at some point when I entered her DOB, it prompted me to answer whether this minor is traveling with an adult, and then I had to enter my confirmation number. What are you experiencing?

I have a Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card. I have 50K points from the sign on bonus. Do the points expire without any activity?

Not at all, I do know that AA does it but I thought I remember hearing that SW does too. I could  be mistaken.

Is southwest points transferable to any other programs?
