Topic Wiki

This is the thread for all random/general questions about Southwest. The official airline code for Southwest is WN as SW was taken by Air Namibia, but many people on the forums refer to Southwest as SW since no one talks about Air Namibia ever.

For questions about any of the SW CC's, see here.
For questions about the SW Companion Pass, see here.
For questions about auto-checkin to SW flights, see here. (Follow the wiki to learn how to set it up.)

Anyone have referral with signup bonus that is better than current 40k public offer for either of the personal cards?

Arriving in LAX from Australia around 6.30am. I have a separate onward Southwest flight around 2.30pm. Assuming I cannot interline my bags, is there any chance that Southwest will take my bags in the morning? Or do I really have to wait till 3 hours before?

If I book Southwest tickets now for a flight in April using Southwest points on a Wanna Get Away ticket but then 2 days before the flight I decide to cancel - will the points get redeposited in my account or would they be lost?

I have cancelled 5 min before the flight, i once even cancelled after the flight took off but YMMV, I wouldn't try that, This is why I love southwest.

I don't know about Southwest but I've done this with other airlines.  Once landed in Zurich at 8am had 10:30pm flight on a seperate ticket and was able to check my bags right away in the morning.
I'd wait for someone else to confirm that Southwest does this but I believe if the counter is open you can check your bags.

Not only do they get redeposited, but they are usually ready to be used to book something else inside of an hour.

Officially policy is you need to cancel at least 10 minutes before the flight.

Although as others here have written, they’ve done it with less.

I shouldn't have a problem checking a case of wine as one of my bags on SW right?

Not sure about whether its worth it or not to get pre-boarding, but if you do end up getting it, you would have to get it for your CP as well if you want to board the plane together. You can always try the "I'm saving this seat" route and hope that it works (I don't see why it shouldn't).

Im new to SW airlines. I just received a companion pass from signing up for both cc (thanks dan!). I booked a flight for november time during the holidays. From past experiences, if  i pay the $15 and get earlier boarding, will people fight me on saving the seat next to me for my wife if she comes on board later? Is this allowed?  I dont want any hostility when all can be avoided for $15 more

Am a regular SW flier and have never experienced hostility, especially if its one seat. I will often get the earlybird checkin for my AC when we are flying the daf after a YT and we can't do the 24 hr A-list pre-board. She will then hold the seats for the kids and me and no one has ever given her a hard time about it.

In addition to what was said, if she isn't boarding too much later, and you guys are sitting next to each other, most likely the seat you will be saving is a middle seat, so you'd get less of a fuss over that. If it's in an exit row or something, that I can see being a fight.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

About time!  I never understood why it stayed around this long.
Ummm,maybe because they are yummy?
Do you have a peanut allergy?  Was it a big deal to submit an allergy request online so they didn’t serve them on your flight?

It's definitely an interesting choice to have it be your "thing".
