Topic Wiki

This is the thread for all random/general questions about Southwest. The official airline code for Southwest is WN as SW was taken by Air Namibia, but many people on the forums refer to Southwest as SW since no one talks about Air Namibia ever.

For questions about any of the SW CC's, see here.
For questions about the SW Companion Pass, see here.
For questions about auto-checkin to SW flights, see here. (Follow the wiki to learn how to set it up.)

Any guestimates on when Southwest will allow free changes for November-January?

How do I know if the free changes with no fare difference is still in effect? Want to do an award reservation but don't want to be stuck with all those transferred points if the free change doesn't work.

Try a booking with cash. If it works, you can cancel it then rebook with points.

Can't tell you for certain that it works for every flight. But it just worked for me on multiple flights....

If I buy an extra seat for myself on a WN flights before October 31, does that mean that I would get the whole row because the middle seat is blocked, or would the blocked seat be my extra seat?
For what purpose do you want the whole row?

Southwest is open seating so I don't think you could guarantee that.

Is the WIFI on board worth the $8?
Is there anyway to prepay with discount (or free)?

Would Southwest permit me to book 2 flights into the same airport on the same day? I know that it's not permissible to book 2 tickets on the same route for the same day, wondering if different departure airport would change that. Anyone have experience with this?

IIRC they will cancel.
A couple of days apart seems to work.
If you're booking with points, nothing to lose.

So even one day apart would be a problem?
