Credit card dispute (fraud)
« on: May 07, 2014, 08:55:26 PM »
A friend of mine used a landscaping / snow plowed company for aprox $7k
This guy charged over $17k in credit card charges basically making up these fees.
He called The credit card company (not AMEX) & they said its a dispute between him & the vendor. The credit card company said the landscaper is correct. Any suggestions?

Well get a new landscaper ASAP! Besides, he should be able to win the dispute.

Because at one point he was authorized to do some work, it isn't like he stole the card; the question now is how much work was actually authorized.

I think he should talk to the police and a lawyer.

Does Chase Ink have different rules than a personal chase card regarding a dispute?
I have a charge from a lounge where they charged me for a guest even though they said there is no charge for the guest. Chase is refusing to dispute it because no one stole my card, and i received a service for the money that was paid. I argued that i never authorized this charge, but they  wouldn't hear my claim. I spoke to the lounge and they even told me to dispute it! Chase was rude and hard to deal with as well. Its a $54 charge.
First time disputing anything with Chase, but with Amex I would never have this issue.

I had a dispute with SP after buying a vanilla GC and the credit was never loaded and the vanilla CS had no interest in helping. Made a dispute with chase no worries
Not saying chase is best. Amex is easier, but chase wasn't bad at all

Before you know it, we're gonna have every cc company mentioned... I think the bottom line is that it's all YMMV, with the exception of Amex

Disputes with anyone besides amex is a nightmare.

I've disputed twice on my CSP and won both without a single followup. One full charge, one partial charges- a deposit not refunded despite repeated requests (Merchants were clearly in the wrong so likely put up no fight.) The second time, my CSP started saying "Account is in dispute" on my credit report for a few months but it went away.

Amex is easier though. Only had one dispute- Amex refunded the charge with a single short phone call. I didn't even have to start the dispute process.
