Getting hotel points for group bookings

Is it possible to get hotel points for group bookings?
I work for somone that is involved with tours and he often books 50 or 60 rooms at chain hotels and pays a group rate per room diractly to the hotel.
1. Can he get points and/or night stays from the chain (Hilton IHG Etc')?
2. If for example he pays a spg property with the spg card and hes a gold member will he get 5 points per $ spent?

Is he paying the hotel directly? Meaning he's not going through an agency then yes why shouldn't he?

I'm doing this a lot  with Hilton. If you pay for all the rooms then you get the full amount if everybody pays themselves you will only get for meeting space. With Hilton and Marriott you have the choice of getting miles to your favorite airline and getting less of their points.

Can you elaborate a little, you book diractly from the hotel a bunch of rooms at a discounted group rate, pay the hotel diractly and still get points?
Do you just give them your regular hotel program number?
