Similarly, prepaid debit card issuers sometimes freeze accounts and won't release until they get receipts for every reload or reload pack ever used to load that account

I'm so happy it worked out for you!

A note to corporate commending the manager is a way to really thank him.

Good thought.

Since you bought more GC's (at the same time your problem was corrected), check to see if the receipt contains a code to participate in an online survey.  If so, I suggest you take that survey.  The managers actually read the surveys and it helps them a lot.

PS:  Glad to hear your problem was resolved.

Also a good thought.

I keep every single cvs staples walmart load etc receipts from the beginning of time. As well as every empty gift card. Its true, you just never know.
I keep every receipt from everything else throughout my day as well, it has helped me numerous times.

That sounds like a bit much.  I keep my receipts until after the GC's are liquidated and the money is in my account.  Then I shred everything when the CC statement comes.  Once you liquidated the $, what's the point of still keeping receipts?
What do you do after your dreams come true?

I keep all the reciepts becasue they are proof of where the money came from. If Gd forbid someone wants to know what all these deposits are and why i didnt claim i can show them every receipt indicating i paid for that money, thus it isnt income.
Am i just being paranoid? I just feel better safe than sorry. Yea it can be a bit much but thats where filing cabinets come in handy ;)

Oy.  If I had to keep all the receipts I would need a warehouse.   :P

Yeah, like SuperSpeed, I don't understand this.

Explain please?

Did anyone understand?

From a website with the initials ft: (caps mine)
"My MVD account is "suspended" according to the CSR. I need to send them my Driver's license, copy of the MVD card, copy of the purchase receipt of the Vanilla Reloads, AND A COPY OF LOAD RECEIPTS (don't see how this is possible). Is there any issue about providing this information? Have any of you done this or is it better to complain to FDIC?"

First thing that came up on Google. I must've send hundreds of such reports online.

I mean, yeah. Technically this makes sense. Not MVD, though, and not VRs, but the concept.

Everyone needs to find their own comfort level with keeping documentation, weighing the risks vs. the annoyance/space/organization requirements. I posted the thread just to give everyone a clearer picture of a risk that really shouldn't be possible. (If you try to buy cards that don't activate (for whatever reason), there is supposed to be an error at the register so that you don't end up paying for them.)
