How far from baggage claim? I have an hour and 10 minute connection, is it enough?

You do immigration, get ur bag, recheck ur bag, go up an elevator and there is security. An hour should be fine, but you will have to move quick and if the line is busy tell an agent of your flight time.

Off topic - on the flight from YYZ-YUL i have an option to choose a gold seat for free, is it a preferred seat? And will they charge me for it at the airport?

What is up with those 3 Step procedures in YYZ? I don't really get the point of having your name pop-up on the board. They tried explaining that it had to do with luggage verification but they also said that they constantly have issues with it. My experience was pretty bad. #rantover

What are you talking about?

Had a connecting flight via YYZ and had to go through customs/security again. Couldn't have put it better then the review I just read on TripAdvisor:

What was extremely upsetting was checked-in international baggage layovers to the US. The design of this process is broken down into 3 steps, and let me clarify for you people who have Toronto stops:

Step 1: scan your boarding ticket, confirm the number of bags you've checked in, move over to watch for your name on the left screen

Problem: screen doesn't tell you to go to step 2, so everyone waits until the screen clears (this takes about 2 minutes, and with only 5 booths while slews of flights are coming in, so the line is slow). The sole employee tells you to move to the left. People began to line up, not sure what was going on. But there's actually 3 stations for everyone to crowd around, waiting for their names. What killed me was that the employees didn't tell the people to look for their names- she just stood there as people stood in a line, not really sure why they were in a line...

Step 2: you literally sit and wait for your last name and departure flight to show up on the leftmost screen. The middle is in French, and the right screen alternates between English and French (telling you which flight's baggages are in the process of being processed).

Problem: the screen refreshes every 5 seconds, but new names show up around every 10 minutes or so. Your name should show up no more than 20-25minutes after step 1. Mine ended up being 50 minutes......

Step 3: once you see your name, they scan your ticket again and you're free to wait for customs.
