Is there anywhere to get Breakfast besides Cafe at J?
Not really.
New york Bagels has as described above.
Sabas Pizza possibly but call ahead to make sure they are open.

Cafe at the J best bet.

I get that its just weird to see meat and dairy on the same menu. ussually when they have separate kitchens they have a separate menu as well

A small group of us are flying in to assist Houston residents.  Does anyone know if the kosher stores/restaurants have reopened at all?

Brief Trip report
Just visited Houston with my wife for a residency interview.

Flew in Thursday morning on southwest with companion ticket (finally posted!!) rented from Hertz (used autoslash to get 45$ rate for 3 days) and had a very smooth car pickup experience. Headed towards johnson space center. Took the tram tour there to the historic mission control, vehicle mockup building (9), and rocket park. New mission control wasn't on the trip. Also toured the shuttle and 747 exhibit but had no time shows. 9/10 experience.

Headed afterwards to Saba for lunch
jachnun 7/10 -served with salad
pizza 6/10
pesto pasta 9/10
mozzarella sticks 6/10
However, service was excellent and the bill was reasonable.

and Saba's grill to pickup dinner for later
shwarma lafa
hamburger
can't rate objectively because they were eaten later cold.

Bunked in the Marriot medical center and was upgraded to Presidential suite which was a nice room with kitchenette, dining room table, small card table area, couch, and 2 bathrooms.
There was some issue with checkin time, but was given a temp room after asking for it.

Next day I interviewed, grabbed lunch at greens:
jalepeno chickpea burger - tasted ok, cheese wasn't fully melted
Chicken parm- soy chicken with spaghetti- chicken was delicious spaghetti less so.
vegan oreo and banana nut cupcakes- 10/10

Spent shabbos in the UOS community which was incredibly warm and welcoming despite still recovering from Harvey.

Motzash we went to Zoo lights in the Houston zoo which was fantastic. Essentially they light the zoo up with a bunch of led's and other colored lights, some coordinated with the music playing. They develop a guided path and while most of the animals are asleep, its a fantastic stroll.

Picked up Genesis despite them being closed for school fundraiser so props to them for making it work.
Bruce burger- 9.5/10 good burger, good pastrami, amazing beer batter onion rings.
spaghetti and meatballs- 5/10 sauce was decent but my wife thought the meatballs were rubbery

Spent the night in the sheraton 4 points hobby airport. Nothing bad to say here, not sure if its worth it compared to the other peri-airport hotels. 5 min drive to hertz and took the shuttle. sitting in airport about to board.

Peace out Houston twas awesome!

I'm surprised this thread is so small, is this not a popular destination?

I'm looking for a winter break getaway, somewhere warm and away from the crowds.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Considering HOU for mid-winter with the kids. If we were to stay over Shabbos, any places to stay in the frum community within walking distance of a shul? What area should I be looking for on Airbnb or VRBO for a possible place?
