What does this do?
Is it just a sim to put in the phone, but you still need to sign up for a regular Tmobile plan? Is a sim normally more than a penny?

This isn't a new line just the physical SIM which usually costs $10.
Just note, that it's prepaid and most people, including you, want/need postpaid, as prepaid doesn't have Global service. This SIM cannot be used for postpaid.

Definitely will work with a TMobile phone. Never really understood this unlocked concept because people tell me when you do updates it locks again. Always my fear.

I know with the iphone if you get it unlocked officially, not jailbroken, then you can still update it and be fine. It wont lock back up

If you are a T-Mobile customer you can call them up and tell them that you plan to travel overseas and you want to unlock the phone I never have them not give me the unlock code. They send it by email within 24 hours after the request.

Just wondering. Why it can't be used for postpaid plans.  How would T-Mobile know which kit it is.

Wow that is exactly what I need this for lol. I am a TMobile customer . You suggestion opened my options up . Thanks a lot for the advice!!!
One more question please? If I see say an ATT phone unlocked , TMobile can give me code to unlock?  I ask because I tend to find more ATT phones in market cheaper than TMobile yet seems to be same phone.

Nope. Wont work. They can see by IMEI number which carrier its for. Just fyi, att wont unlock prepaid phones until its active for like 6 months.

Damn lol. Ok back to your original idea. Sorry never did this before. Only time I ever did was I bought and Israeli Sims card with a phone and prepaid minutes a couple of years ago and cost me an arm and a leg . I hardly ever use it.

I did the same with at&t on a postpaid  (contract ) iPhone 3gs. I emailed them that I would like to unlock my phone . they asked for the original phone number it was activated so they can verify if the contract was fulfilled but I did not know the original phone number  .
My scenario was my friend Gave me his broken iPhone 3gs . I went into a apple store and paid them $100 and they gave me a new phone . now I had a legit apple receipt that I bought thuys phone. I faxed them a copy and within a few hours they sent me the unlock code. Now its " factory unlocked)
