star gold on elal swiss codeshare

i can buy a ticket that the first leg of the return journey has a swiss flight number but is operated by elal, will my star gold (a3) be honored for extra luggage?
also will i have lounge in israel?

any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I do not think you will have your *GOLD privileges. Maybe someone else will know better, but I do not think you will have them. You are going to be checking in with ELAL not Swiss, and ELAL will not know about it atleast in my thinking.

Nope since it operated by EL AL. Just has a Swiss flight number, but the actual operator is LY so you need to go through them.

mayne i can help. i flew on elal flightcodeshare (the actual plane i flew on was swiss), i was able to checkin at SWISS counter but received no lounge or miles to Star Alliance as i was told its really an ELAL flight

i mostly want the extra luggage, and lounge in zurich (which i assume i'll get as my next leg is a swiss flight)

I'm confused, who was the actual operator?

AS i wrote, 'The actual plane i flew on was SWISS'
and i had to check in at SWISS desk because i was flying on their medal, HOWEVER, i had NO *alliance benifits as if i was flying on ELAL, because it was codeshare. (Which basically means for all practical purposes that ELAL rented space on SWISS's aircraft)

I flew on swiss on ua miles ticket and was not able to add my a3 *gold number. They did let me go into lounge by showing my *gold card though.

Purchased an AA-LY codeshare connection through AA. On AA outbound had no problem checking 2 bags with status. LY check-in on return didn't recognize status and allow second bag, even though it was an AA codeshare and after being informed of eligibility by AA phone agent.

If you fly out of ZRH - yes you get the privileges and lounge. It must have an LX flight no.
