FWIW, my school strongly discourages paying the whole year upfront. Something about messing with budget and cash flow.

Huh? That sounds like bad financial  planning/management on their part.

This is what I was thinking as well, although I'm sure there are heterim.
Don’t assume there is a heter in place unless you are aware that they set one up

Because otherwise you’d be paying another $500 tuition.

And they'll still have the $500 fee

WOW! Sounds like Modern Orthodoxy is a cult! Look at how much money the parents have to shell out for tuition!

If you would have gone to a MO school, you might have known the definition of "cult".

a religious group, often living together, whose beliefs are considered extreme or strange by many people:
Per this definition, I'd say every shomer Torah umitzvos community qualifies as a cult.

That's not what it means by living together.

Now a yeshiva with a dorm on the other hand. ;D ;)

Cult isn't what comes to mind when I think of yeshiva dorms. Petri dish, maybe.

Made one for elementary schools as well - cheaper than his schools but still definitely yeshiva tuition.

Surprised there not more schools trying to do what Yeshiva he'atid is doing with 'guided' learning, which takes less manpower. I saw a stat that in a class of 25 each child gets less than 3 minutes of individual attention a day from the teacher, which is kind of a bad value proposition, with AI 'guided' learning with computer should become mainstream.

Who says that a child needs individual attention in order to learn?
And I would value personal attention way way more yhan AI attention...

A big part of our religion and why it lasted through centuries in other countries is because of mesorah. That happens when a rabbi (and/or father) gives it over to his talmid. I'm not sure what this new system you're talking about is but it sounds like it's more focused on technology instead of a rebbi. I don't see that working out too well in mainstream yiddishkeit.
