IP address
« on: May 19, 2014, 09:01:19 AM »
Would anyone mind filling me in when is necessary to change IP addresses if logging in to multiple accounts? Is it necessary every time you log in or just when you apply for credit cards and AP accounts? Any precautions would be appreciated. TIA

I use different IP addresses each time I log into AP. For credit card applications I only use multiple browsers, all from the same IP address.

My question is, if it's for multiple people's accounts. Do I have to switch by each log-in or only when there's activity done or only by applications....?

The only time IP address is significant is for AP.  Chase, Amex -even BB- does not mind more than 1 person at the same computer each having his own separate account.   AP seems to feel that if 2 people have access to the same computer, they should hand each other cash and not send money via AP and cc.

Thanks. Are you sure that it won't cause an A/A or F/R?

My husband and I each have 2 chase logins - 1 biz,1 personal.  My daughter has one, too.
Each more that 1 Amex login- for some reason I originally couldn't get more than 3 cc's per login.
Each a citi.
Each a credit monitor and then cancel and then again.....
3 diff BB accounts
IME- no problem.  Each family member can legitimately use the same computer to manage their own banking/cc's.

And if it's not family, who don't share same last name?

-1  Best Buy also monitors.  Double purchases (allowed) for a particular product was turned over to fraud prevention because I bought for three separate people, separate emails, separate addresses, separate CCs, SAME IP.  CSR told me it looked like 5 items were bought from the same computer!

I don't believe restarting your computer will give you a new IP address you prob have to reset your modem
Go to command prompt and type in ipconfig

Google "IP".  But I don't think just restarting your computer will give you a new IP.

shutting down your computer for 24 hours still won't give you a new ip address

I do it every time I log in, only out of an abundance of caution. It probably doesn't matter, but it's simple to do. I tether my phone and just switch to airplane mode. The whole operation is like 20 seconds.
