IME French people aren't even aware of the "math" in their numbers, they just say it naturally. Obviously if given a second of thought they do realize that there's math there.

I never knew about Danish.

Just imagine  צוויי אנדערטהאלבן פופציק would be how one said 77 in Yiddish. That's more or less the equivalent of the Danish version of 92 (presumably 77 would be similarly convoluted).
