Need two seats (JAL) - Book J and Y then upgrade?

Hey everyone,

I need two seats business class seats on a JAL flight sometime in mid-December (have a very hard time finding availability during this time period) and would like to use AA miles to book it. The flight I'm looking at is a two class cabin. Is booking one seat in business and one in econ then waiting for more J to open up and pay the miles difference a good idea? Do you know if AA lets you do this? Anything else I can do?

I'm still curious about the answer to this but am trying to use CX instead of JAL now
