I have a Kitchenaid 6000HD mixer and it was making really bad sounding noises when turned on. I opened it and found this fan-looking thing on the back of the motor (mounted on the back end of the shaft). It was cracked and half was flying around inside the housing, making noise. Took it off and it sounds fine.

My question is: Is there any risk in using the mixer (indefinitely) without it? I couldn't figure out what it does- it looks like a fan but the blades are really small, and there's also no vent on the housing anywhere for this fan to get air out or in. Any risk in just using the mixer without it? Anyone know what this price does?

Just found the part online. They just call it a fan. It's this part. Anyone know if I actually need it?

It's probably to prevent overheating

Can a fan prevent overheating if there's no vent to let air in or out?

How expensive is it to purchase?  It might save your machine down the line.

If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

It is not a sealed unit. It helps with overheating.

Idk yet. The only one I found was in Australia and is 20 AUD. I think I'll contact the manufacturer here.

Try calling the manufacturer directly. They'll often ship parts like that free of charge

any suggestions for a monitor to place on my panel to see what's pulling the most power? My bill was crazy high. I'm assuming it was the AC but I want to make sure there isn't some hidden energy drain

Change your panel to a Leviton Wifi panel 🤣 it'll only be between $1000 - $1500🤣

I'm trying to trace the wires from my thermostat. They go somewhere near the boiler obviously but there are dozens of wire in and around  the boiler.

Any suggestions? google led me to a tone generator and amazon has tons of them, which one should I get considering I'm a newbie but very much a diyer so I would need something that actually has helpful instructions.

TIA!

Are the wires from the thermostat contained in one cable?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Never worked on a boiler system before. If you post pictures of the connections at the thermostat and boiler we might be able to figure it out.

I've changed a bunch of light fixtures over the years and never had this.

The light switch was definitely off, but I still felt a current when touching the wires. Why and how is this?

Need more info. Which wires are you touching? Did you separate any wires that were together?
